Collier County charging documents dated last August 2 disclosed that the accused, Matthew Davis, lost patience waiting for the food he ordered. He posted the online order that should have been prepared by 8:58 pm, according to True Crime Daily.
On the night, he went to the restaurant at 9:40 pm and was displeased upon learning that his order was not ready yet. Davis, while waiting for his order and sitting, gets impatient because he was expecting to get the food prepared sooner, as seen in the restaurant's video, states American Reveille.

One statement from the Collier County Sheriff's Office detective mentioned that the shop's manager tried to make Davis feel better by offering drinks at the fountain for free.

During the incident, a couple with a four-year-old child stepped out of an ice cream shop next to the Wingstop when the disgruntled man had a gun. A witness remarked that he saw Davis with a pistol and finger on the trigger and allegedly looked very stern and serious. A couple with the child made haste and dashed to their car, seeing how the man scared them. But he was more focused on getting his food order.
