Manchester City and Barcelona begin the first leg of the round of 16 on Tuesday. For City, the match provides a first-rate opponent to gauge where the English club is is at this point in the season.

"It's a good test for us," City boss Manuel Pellegrini said, via IB Times. "We have played well so far this season and it is important we continue this way until the end of the campaign.

"The most important things is that we are the same team we are every week in the Premier League - the same style and intensity but we have to consider Barcelona's strengths, too. I'm sure our fans will enjoy this game. I think our supporters are enjoying this season and it is important we play in a style they enjoy watching, too."

City's squad could be bolstered with Fernandinho, who's available after practicing on Monday without any setbacks.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique admitted winning the Champions League and ending their two-year drought is important for the club.

"Perhaps teams don't fear us as much because we have not won this competition for two years," the former Manchester United defender said. "However they [City] still respect us as we're a team full of players who have won the World Cup and Champions League. We can still be the best, and this is a great chance to show the world that we have top players that can win this game."
