Over 980 flights were canceled, and 800 others were delayed on Tuesday due to the Texas winter weather that affected neighboring states.
FlightAware reported that AP News reported that over 500 Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and approximately 125 Dallas Love Field flights were canceled or delayed Tuesday, prompted by a winter storm warning.
FlightAware said that dallas-based Southwest Airlines has canceled more than 300 flights and delayed almost 100 more. The Austin Fire Department said many reports of car accidents resulted in at least one death amid the Texas winter weather.
The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and Ice Storm Warnings for millions of people residing in Texas from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex southeast through Waco and Austin, as well as to the west into Abilene, San Angelo, and Junction, per Fox Weather.
Freezing rain has also been observed in Arkansas and West Tennessee sections, including Little Rock and Memphis in those respective states, leading to Ice Storm Warnings there, too.

Airlines Issue Winter Waivers
On Sunday, the airline Southwest issued a winter weather waiver, and by Monday at noon, the waiver had been extended to 12 airports in Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Kentucky. The new exemptions apply to travel from January 30 to February 1.
American Airlines on Sunday granted a waiver for DFW Airport that covers travel from January 29 through February 2, as per a CNN report.vDelta and United have issued waivers due to the winter storm warning. Cancellations did not significantly disrupt their Monday activities.
Dallas Love Field posted on Monday that its staff "stands ready to treat and clean surfaces to allow for safe operations" in preparation for rough weather. Before heading to any airport, passengers were strongly advised to contact their respective airlines to confirm the status of their flights.
