Florida Man Dragged, Shoot by Police
The event occurred at about 8 a.m. on February 26, 2022. Cottes was carrying his authorized pistol when he was shot by responding cops.
After being shot when authorities reached the 14th level of the Alexandra Towers, the president of the condo board, Cottes, was transferred to a local hospital where he died about three weeks later.
Christina Cottes, the victim's daughter, told Local 10 after seeing the surveillance footage, "He said someone was in his apartment, in his condo, he comes out with his gun licensed to carry and everything."
The Florida man's daughter referred to her as her "best friend" and inquired, "Why would they treat him in such a manner or take him into an elevator while he is already chained behind his back? He is injured."
Before Cottes's death at Memorial Regional Hospital, according to Christina, police prohibited her family from visiting him. A private investigator hired bu Cottes' family, Victor Elbeze, said, "It's been a year waiting for forensic and ballistics (evidence) because they want to see who shot first."
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is presently investigating the occurrence. At the time of the incident, Cottes' neighbors confirmed that the victim was legally permitted to carry a firearm. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which was investigating the shooting, was contacted for comment.
