The Brooklyn Nets announced on Monday that they had reached an agreement with the Dallas Mavericks on the Kyrie Irving trade.
The details of the trade are the following:
Brooklyn receives: Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, 2027 second-round selection, 2029 first-round selection, 2029 second round-pick
Dallas receives: Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris
Kyrie Irving sought the trade from Brooklyn days before the Feb. 9 deadline, according to NBA. The club said he got injured and couldn't play in Brooklyn's game on Saturday night. He was excused from attending the game prior to the Kyrie Irving trade.
As the big-time trade becomes official, Kyrie Irving is "ecstatic" to play for the Mavs and "looking forward" to playing with Luka Doncic, according to Chris Haynes of NBA on TNT.
Now that Kyrie Irving pairs up with Luka Doncic, skeptics are asking how two "scorers and ball-handlers'' are going to thrive, per Fan Nation.
Jason Kidd, the head coach of the Mavericks, is optimistic that Kyrie Irving will be a great addition to the squad, and the team "can't ask for a better situation."
"We feel that getting him is going to help put us in a position to win a championship," he remarked.

LeBron James Reacts on Kyrie Irving Trade
LeBron James recently said he wants the Lakers to pursue the Kyrie Irving trade. It was alleged that James wanted the Lakers to trade Russell Westbrook and future draft selections for Kyrie Irving, LeBron's former teammate in Cleveland.
Lakers' first-round selections in 2027 and 2029 allegedly weren't enough to seal the Kyrie Irving trade deal, however, per Lakers Nation.
LeBron James admitted to ESPN's Michael Wilbon that he's disappointed the Irving issue is over, but he said that he's ready to move forward with the issue.
"I can't sit here and say I'm not disappointed on not being able to land such a talent," the Lakers superstar said.
