Ukrainian officials have admitted that conditions are worsening fast near Bakhmut, a mining community in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, that Russian soldiers have been pursuing to occupy for months.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on Monday night that things were "getting more and more difficult" in the Bakhmut region, according to CNBC.
Volodymyr Zelensky also said that the Russians are "constantly destroying everything that can be used to protect our positions, to gain a foothold, and ensure defense."
Bakhmut, in Ukraine's Donetsk area, where Russia and its proxy troops occupy part of the territory, has seen some of the bloodiest combat since the Russia Ukraine war started over a year ago.
The Russian military's recent offensive to take the industrial city has gained momentum amdit the Russia Ukrain war. Russian official media outlet RIA broadcast footage of Su-25 fighter planes bombing Bakhmut.
Despite the Russian successes, one Reuters reporter who visited the region on Monday said Ukraine's soldiers were not withdrawing and reinforcements were approaching, as per a BBC report.
Meanwhile, one advisor to the leader of the pro-Russian self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic predicted that the city of Bakhmut will soon fall into Russian hands since Vladimir Putin's soldiers have taken control the roads leading into the city.

Russian Will Soon Seize Bakhmut Says Pro-Russia Official
Yan Gagin told Russian state broadcaster Russia 1 on Tuesday that Russian troops "are already working in the city, almost in the central district; they have approached it."
He remarked that Moscow's forces have "almost complete control" of all the routes by which either additional fighters, ammo, or new equipment may be delivered, CNN reported.
Gagain added, now that Ukraine has lost Bakhmut, the remaining question is "when it will happen."
