- The Manhattan grand jury is set to vote on a decision to file criminal charges against Trump soon
- Anti-Trump protesters called on DA Alvin Bragg to indict the former president over the hush money payment
Supporters of former President Donald Trump gathered in Manhattan for a rally after the Republican businessman called on his followers to protest a possible indictment stemming from a hush money payment allegedly made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
The gatherings on Tuesday came amid potential criminal charges that were rumored to be handed to Trump. The case revolves around allegations that the former president paid hush money to Daniels, whom he is accused of having an affair with back in 2006.
MAGA Supporters Protest Potential Trump Indictment
One Trump supporter, 45-year-old Cheri Saxon, came from Chicago to protest the former president's potential indictment. She said that she hates President Joe Biden and his entire administration, claiming he was bringing the country to World War III.
Another resident, 34-year-old Matthew Eastman from Manhattan, was selling "Make America Great Against" caps from the back of his pickup truck just outside the Family Court. He said he was there to support Trump because he did not want the former president to go to jail, as per the New York Daily News.
On the other hand, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has remained relatively quiet on the current status of a grand jury probe into the former president. The investigation is thought to be in its final stages based on an invitation given to Trump to testify in the case, something that the Republican businessman has declined.
On Monday, the grand jury heard from someone that Trump's lawyers sent instead of the former president, Robert Costello. He is the former legal adviser of Michael Cohen and previously represented former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and right-wing strategist Steve Bannon. He said that he would provide evidence to discredit Cohen's testimony.

Donald Trump's Alleged Hush Money Payment to Stormy Daniels
Cohen, who has testified twice before the grand jury, is a key witness in the $130,000 hush payment to Daniels. He was sent to federal prison for issuing the payment to the adult film star and spent half of his sentence at his family residence at Trump Park Ave. while wearing an ankle monitor.
On the other hand, protesters who support an indictment of the former president gathered outside the Manhattan Criminal Court. They argued that no one should be above the law and called for Bragg to do his job properly, according to Politico.
The situation comes after Trump predicted that authorities would arrest him over the case on Sunday. However, the situation was relatively peaceful, and on Monday, jurors heard what was believed to be the final witness before voting on an indictment.
Despite Trump's denial of the hush money payment, Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has extensively documented her side of the story in a 2018 memoir titled, "Full Disclosure," which contrasts the former president's series of events.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said he was calling his supporters to protest and take the country back. His message prompted the New York Young Republican Club to take action and organize a demonstration right outside Bragg's office, said the Independent.
