Police in Denver said two school officials were sent to the hospital following another shooting at East High School on Wednesday morning.

Later that evening, officials discovered the deceased suspect in Park County. The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. at the 1600 City Park Esplanade Boulevard school.

Denver High School Student Shot 2 Faculty Members

Austin Lyle, a 17-year-old student at the school, was identified as the accused gunman by police, who said he left the scene. Early reports from pupils indicated that the shooting had placed within the school. The suspect in the East High School shooting was discovered dead in Park County on Wednesday night, and a Park County Sheriff's Office spokesperson confirmed to The Denver Gazette.

The Jefferson County SWAT squad approached the red 2005 Volvo XC90 "connected" with the accused shooter Lyle. According to Glancy West, authorities discovered the truck along Bailey's County Road 68 near Wellington Lake.

It was deserted, but a body matching Lyle's description was discovered nearby in a "secluded region." She stated that the Park County coroner would conduct an autopsy and confirm identity. FBI and ATF personnel participated in the search. The shelter-in-place order for Bailey residents has subsequently been withdrawn.

The police stated earlier on Wednesday that there was a "safe strategy" to check Lyle daily for weapons before admitting him to school. Despite being examined by authorities, he reportedly brought a firearm inside the school and opened fire on Wednesday morning.

Denver High School Shooting Victims

Ron Thomas, the police chief of Denver, stated that school administrators were the ones who patted him down and shot him. One of the victims underwent emergency surgery and is now in serious condition. Thomas said the other victim was in "severe but stable condition."

Officials from Denver Health later confirmed the fatalities' identities as Jerald Mason and Eric Sinclair. Sinclair holds the position of dean of culture. According to the school's website, Mason is the restorative practice coordinator. The suspect was first unidentified because he was a minor. Yet, as the hunt continued into the afternoon, Denver police recognized Lyle and announced that he was sought for attempted homicide.

Per NY Post, police said the student is sought for attempted homicide and constitutes a threat to public safety. According to Thomas, one of the victims is in serious but stable condition, while the other is in critical condition and having surgery.

By 10 a.m., the third period of the school day, school authorities in Denver reported that the building had been placed under lockdown. Almost half an hour later, the district stated that students would be transported to a separate location where parents could pick them up.

This was the second school-related shooting this year. According to ABC station KMGH-TV News, a 16-year-old East High School student was fatally shot in a parked car near the school in February.
