Sherri Shepherd, in her recent interview, believes that the United States First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden needs to express her apology to the women's hoops team of Louisiana State University (LSU).
The American actress and comedian say that the first lady of the United States (FLOTUS) should not have invited Iowa, which lost to the reigning NCAA Women's champions, in the first place.
Jill Biden Urged to Apologize to LSU
Shepherd expressed her two cents to TMZ Sports over the invitation of the FLOTUS for Iowa, the runner for this year's season, for a celebration at the White House. After the US first lady invited the runner-up and the champion to the White House, the TV personality said, "You never invite the losing team to the White House."
According to a report by Business Insider, the FLOTUS, who watched the Sunday night game between the Tigers and Hawkeyes (102-85), they recently invited both teams to the White House. Biden reportedly made the invitation right after the LSU Tigers won the championship game against the IOWA Hawkeyes.
The first lady stated that she knows the reigning champions, LSU, are coming to the White House to celebrate their recent win. It has been a tradition for the champions to visit the White House. But on top of that, Biden went on to add that she is "going to tell Joe" that she thinks the runner-up "Iowa should come too," noting that they "played such a good game."
Besides saying that the FLOTUS needs to apologize to LSU, Shepherd has a theory of why Dr. Biden opened the doors of the White House to the runner-up.
The TV personality believes that the US first lady invited Iowa to garner votes for her husband, the President of the United States (POTUS) Joe Biden. She told TMZ Sports that Dr. Biden needs to stop pandering votes for her husband, suggesting that it is the reason behind her unusual invitation to the runner-up.
LSU's Angel Reese Rejects Jill Biden's Apology
The basketball star of LSU, Angel Reese, responded to the comments of the US first lady, which suggests a celebration that includes the champions and the runner-up, dubbing it a joke. Reese took to Twitter to share remarks about Biden, saying it is "A JOKE."
Business Insider notes that press secretary, Vanessa Valdivia, tried to apologize for the recent remarks of the first lady. The press secretary notes that the invitation seeks to "applaud the history game and all women athletes," the press secretary notes.
On Wednesday, Reese admitted to Paper Route's podcast, I Am Athlete, that she is "not going to accept the apology." Instead, she says that she is going to the house of Michelle and Barack Obama.
