Dishwashing Lady in China Goes to Work in a Bentley - Is It a Publicity Stunt or a Reality?

Is it for real or a publicity stunt for a China lottery campaign?

A dishwasher in China went viral after she was spotted showing up to work in a Bentley while wearing an apron and rubber boots.

The woman from Chengdu, Sichuan province, was dropped off at a hotel in a black Bentley luxury car, which was posted on Weibo on April 4. Since it was posted, the video has gained over 8.4 million videos. According to the video, the woman's daughter sends her to and from work daily.

The woman seems to be in her 60s, wearing a striped pink shirt and long black slacks. Her hair is in a bun, and she smiles as she exits the car. Per The Straits Times, the video's caption reads: What she lacks is not money, but things to do to fill her time."

According to China Times, the woman is rich but spends her time washing dishes. The woman said she feels very bored at home and is usually uncomfortable if she doesn't wash dishes for a day. Her daughter said she couldn't stop her mom from going to work, so she supported her with car transport.

Many praised the woman for staying active and spending her time well, while others expressed envy. The woman's job scope is not limited to dishwashing. Instead, she is also tasked with cleaning the restaurant. The video also inspired some people, and many have left positive messages.

A Publicity Stunt?

Hollywood Unlocked reported that the video was only a woman's publicity stunt for a lottery ticket campaign in China. There are different types of lotteries in China, and the most popular is the China Welfare Lottery established in 1987. The proceeds from the lottery are used to fund social welfare programs, such as medical assistance, education, and disaster relief.

China Sports Lottery is another type of lottery in which the proceeds are used to support sports development in the country.

Both lotteries offer various games, such as scratch-off tickets, number games, and sports games. The odds of winning depend on the specific game and the number of tickets sold.

Lotteries in China have a long history, dating back to the Han Dynasty in 205 BC. Today, the China Welfare Lottery and the China Sports Lottery are the only two legal lotteries in the country. The proceeds from these lotteries are used for public welfare projects such as education, sports, and healthcare.

Despite being the only legal lotteries in China, illegal lotteries are still operating in the country. The Chinese government is cracking down on these illegal lotteries to protect consumers and ensure that proceeds from lotteries are used for public welfare.
