Elon Musk says he wants his "TruthGPT" AI platform to rival the ChatGPT of the Microsoft-backed OpenAI and the offerings of Google. His latest interview revealed what everyone could expect from his upcoming AI project.
Early reports claim that Musk has begun tapping AI engineers to work on his plan to develop an alternative for the viral chatbot, ChatGPT. And now, the billionaire entrepreneur has offered more details for his rumored project.
Elon Musk's 'TruthGPT' to Rival ChatGPT and Google
According to Engadget, Musk, who now sits as Twitter CEO, plans to challenge the two tech giants that have started dabbling in the work of AI, such as Google and the Microsoft-based Open AI. Tesla's big boss says he wants to "create a third option."
In an interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox News, the SpaceX CEO confirmed that he is now working on a ChatGPT rival. The Twitter boss says, "I'm going to start something I call TruthGPT." He adds that his upcoming project will likely be "the best path to safety" to avoid ending humanity," as per The Verge.
It is worth noting that Musk previously tweeted last February that "what we need is TruthGPT." During that time, speculations rose, suggesting that the billionaire was brewing a new AI venture. Later on, the billionaire signed an open letter in March, which asked firms to hold the development of the AI models for at least half a year or six months. It cites potential "profound risk" to our society.

'Truth GPT:' What to Expect from it?
Musk says that his future "TruthGPT" project focuses on a single goal: delivering a "maximum truth-seeking AI." The entrepreneur adds that his latest venture will try "to understand the nature of the universe. In turn, the billionaire hopes it "does more good than harm."
The Twitter boss admits in the same interview that starting later than his rivals has a considerable disadvantage. But despite that, he still plans to challenge them. To do so, Engadget notes that the billionaire has already started investing in thousands of GPUs. He has also started laying out the talent he needs to make it possible by hiring researchers from DeepMind.
On top of these, Musk recently filed the necessary paperwork for his secret AI business, aptly named X.AI Corp. It remains to be seen if this firm will spearhead its TruthGPT venture.
CNET reports that OpenAI launched ChatGPT last November, and it has been the talk of the town. Google is now also working behind the scenes to launch cutting-edge AI technology.
