Snapchat is now rolling out its new ChatGPT-powered chatbot, aptly called 'My AI,' to non-paying users for free.
The AI chatbot was an exclusive feature solely available to subscribers of its premium paid service, Snapchat Plus. But this time, it is finally expanding its rolls out to its free users, along with some nifty upgrades right off the bat.
Snapchat ChatGPT-Powered AI Chatbot is Here
As per a report by The Verge, Snap introduced My AI to Snapchat Plus subscribers less than two months ago. Previously, users had to spend roughly $4 per month to get their hands on the chatbot feature, which the maker of ChatGPT, OpenAI, powers. Since then, the tech firm claims that users have exchanged around 2 million messages per day on the AI-powered bot.
CNN notes that AI tools based on ChatGPT started sprouting like mushrooms since OpenAI publicly released its chatbot late last year. Since November 2022, the bot has taken the world by storm since it does pretty much all sorts of stuff, such as writing essays, song lyrics, and even coding.
And now, the new AI feature on Snap will be available to everyone else shortly after debuting exclusively to paid users. The AI chatbot may now be accessible to all Snapchat users from various parts of the world, wherever they may be.
The giant firm is rolling out the My AI chatbot feature to all its users globally. Users may update their apps once a new version arrives. It should deliver the ChatGPT-powered bot free of charge as soon as possible.
What to Expect from Snap's My AI?
As the social network dishes out its new feature to every user, some might be curious about what 'My AI' brings.
The AI bot lets users ask questions and recommendations like writing a haiku or creating a travel itinerary immediately. In other words, it works similarly to ChatGPT. But it can now be added to group chats. Users only have to type in the "@" symbol. It could also suggest AR filters.
On top of that, Snap is passionate about making it customizable. The chatbot now has a custom Bitmoji avatar, allowing users to change the look of 'My AI.'
The tech giant admits, "My AI is far from perfect, but [we have] made much progress." Snaps claim that nearly all, or roughly 99.5 percent, of the responses from the ChatGPT-powered chatbot, now comply with the community guidelines of the social network. It should help prevent replies that are "harmful" or "inappropriate."
The new safety measures come after problematic interactions with the chatbot that spread online. Snap's My AI has received various criticism since then. Hopefully, the preventive measures will extend a helping hand in addressing the issue.
