Florida authorities said on Tuesday, April 25, that they had arrested a man in connection with the murder and dismemberment of an Uber Eats driver who had delivered meals to the alleged killer's home.
According to AP News, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco declared during a press conference that 30-year-old Oscar Solis Jr. had been charged with murder in the death of a delivery driver last Wednesday, April 19, at a residence in Holiday, Florida.
A police affidavit states that the remains were discovered in garbage bags and a cooler inside the residence, along with a receipt with Solis' name.
"This was a horrific crime of passion," Nocco told the press. "What he did was demonic."
The Murder Night's Events
In a report by CBS News, police claimed the victim is a delivery driver for Uber Eats and DoorDash.
Reportedly last week, he contacted his wife to let her know he had only one more delivery to make before heading home. When she did not hear from him for a while, she tried texting him again but got no reply. After a couple more hours of unanswered messages, the wife reported him missing.
The police proceeded to the last known delivery address two days later, and there they obtained video evidence of the victim from the suspect's roommate.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco stated, "You can actually see the victim walking up to the house to deliver food, but the video cuts off at that point." This occurred just before 7:00 PM on April 19.
Nocco claims surveillance video shows the perpetrator and a second individual removing garbage the next day. Nocco adds that investigators discovered human bones when they looked through the garbage.
Oscar Solis Jr., the Criminal
After being released on parole in Indiana and relocating to Florida in January, Oscar Solis was promptly apprehended for failing to register as a felon with the county, as reported by Fox News.
Solis was said to be an MS-13 gang member who spent four years in burglary and assault. He was accused of stabbing another inmate while he was behind bars.
The Night of Arrest
On Monday night, April 24, police searched Solis' home and discovered the victim's wedding ring and vehicle keys, leading to Solis' arrest for "felony murder in conjunction with the robbery."
Police claimed they located the victim's car one-third of a mile from the residence. CBS News has acquired an affidavit from the police that said they discovered "apparent blood-soaked rags," a red DoorDash bag, and paper towels in the trunk of the automobile.
A time card punch-out receipt in Solis' name from the gentleman's club where he claimed detectives he worked security was also discovered in the trash bag, as stated in the declaration.
Police say the roommate was away when the murder occurred, so it was unclear who helped take away the garbage.
