A fake AI-generated Tucker Carlson spoke with Alex Jones in an elaborate prank by a YouTuber.
The InfoWars founder and conspiracy theorist, Jones, disclosed the prank call on his show, which used an AI version of the former Fox News host's voice.
Fake AI Tucker Carlson Pranks Alex Jones
As per a report by Newsweek, the AI-generated prank call comes shortly after Fox News parted ways with Carlson on April 24 after more than a decade, or 14 years, to be exact.
The conspiracy theorist talked about the recent AI-generated call targeting the radio host on his Infowars show. He admits initially thought it was his friend, the former Fox News host. He even asked the AI version of Tucker, "What's going on?"
During his show on Thursday, May 5, he recalled that he heard the voice of Carlson. Not to mention the call came from the number of the former Fox News host. But then, things got weird when the AI-generated voice started blurting out, what Jones says, are "horrible, lewd sexual things."
Jones revealed on Infowars, a website he founded in 2000, that the AI version of Tucker's voice made "sexual threats" to him.
Gizmodo notes in its report that a leaked text conversation between Carlson and Jones revealed how close they were earlier this year. The Infowars founder and ex-Fox News host even bantered humorously in their text exchanges.
YouTuber Plans to Upload AI-Generated Tucker Carlson Prank
The person behind the AI-generated prank call has come clean in a tweet before the Infowars broadcast. According to Vice, YouTuber Chris James, who goes by Prank Stallone, revealed that he targeted the Infowars founder in a recent phone call.
In a tweet, YouTube says that he called Jones and duped him with an AI-generated Carlson voice to have a conversation with the conspiracy theorist. James admits he was "caught off guard by how much [Jones] bought that it was Tucker."
Jones gave the YouTube prankster an open invitation to his Infowars show to explain himself. He wants James to tell his viewers he did not intend to be mean. On top of that, the conspiracy theorist also urged Prank Stalone to prove that he is not working hand in hand with any government agency.
The radio host warns the prankster that pretending to be another person using their number is a crime in many jurisdictions.
Prank Stallone plans to premiere the audio recording of the AI-generated prank call on his YouTube channel on Monday, May 8.
