On Wednesday, the House Oversight Committee revealed that over $1 million was transferred from a corrupt Romanian businessman to members of the Biden family while Joe Biden was serving as Vice President and promoting anti-corruption efforts in Romania.
The committee also focused on transfers from China to the Biden family.
Committee Chairman James Comer accused the Biden family of engaging in shady business deals that capitalized on Joe Biden's public office and risked national security, per The New York Post.
The committee cited subpoenaed bank records in a 36-page memo detailing how $3 million was transferred from Gabriel Popoviciu's Bladon Enterprises to Robinson Walker LLC, controlled by Hunter's business partner Rob Walker, between November 2015 and May 2017.
Roughly one-third of the $3 million, or $1,038,627.08, was transferred to bank accounts belonging to Hunter Biden, first daughter-in-law Hallie Biden, and an unnamed Biden family member.
This Romanian distribution reflects a similar division of approximately $3 million in early 2017 from Chinese firm CEFC China Energy, which was shared among Hunter, Hallie, first brother James Biden, and an unidentified Biden, according to an Oversight Committee memo from March.
Obtained emails from Hunter's laptop indicated that Popoviciu hired the POTUS in 2016 to participate in an influence campaign aimed at persuading anti-corruption prosecutors to either cut a deal or drop the case while Joe Biden was serving as vice president, according to Daily Mail.
White House Slams Rep. Comer's Allegations
The House Oversight Committee's memo is also a rebuttal to what Republicans claim is misinformation being disseminated by President Biden, Democrats in Congress, and their supporters about the previous memo's findings regarding China.
Before the memo was made public, White House spokesperson Ian Sams accused Congressman Comer of distorting facts and spreading unfounded allegations while conducting his supposed "investigations" without credibility.
Sams claimed that Comer selectively leaked information to advance his narrative of attacking President Joe Biden and his family, CNN reported.
Abbe Lowell, Hunter Biden's attorney, replied to the document in a statement, calling the accusations outdated and repeating previously looked at and lawful commercial transactions by private individuals.
Lowell also asked Comer to look into the several organizations connected to ex-President Donald Trump and his family since prior investigations had revealed no misconduct on the part of Hunter Biden.
