Elon Musk says Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host who plans to start his Twitter show, now has to deal with the fact-checking force of the platform.
After the dismissed TV host announced his move to Twitter, Chief Twit pointed out that Carlson's views would be subjected to the Community Notes, the fact-checking team of the platform.
Elon Musk Says Tucker Carlson is Subject to Twitter Fact-Checking
According to Axios, the ex-Fox News personality Carlson plans to relaunch his show on the Musk-owned service Twitter after accusing the news network of fraud and breach of contract.
In a recent video on Twitter, the former Fox News host confirmed that he is heading to Twitter for a new version of the show that he has been doing for roughly six and a half years. The conservative TV personality swiped at mainstream media, accusing them of "thinly disguised propaganda outlets."
As he shifted from traditional broadcasting after parting ways with Fox, Musk, the owner of Twitter, responded to his shocking move. Per Business Insider, the Twitter Chief Executive Officer (CEO) assures everyone that the fact-checking team of the social network, Community Notes, would scrutinize any misleading claims from Carlson.
Musk highlights that Twitter is "unlike the one-way street of broadcast." He notes that the platform lets users "interact, critique, and refute whatever is said." Mr. Tweet emphasized that misleading posts or content are subject to Community Notes.
Musk's tweet points out that Carlson still has to follow the rules on the social network, similar to other content creators on the platform. Bloomberg points out that the announcement of Carlson's upcoming Twitter show has already wiped out a staggering $235 million from Rumble, a YouTube-like service touted to be for conservatives.
The ultra-billionaire also clarified that there is no deal between the conservative host and him. With no exclusive partnership, Musk invited other personalities to set up their shows on the platform.
Elon Musk Invites Don Lemon to Start a Show on Twitter
After Tucker confirmed relaunching his show on Twitter, Mr. Tweet contacted Don Lemon, the fired CNN host.
Forbes reports that Musk made the surprising offer the same day Carlson announced his new venture on Twitter. It is worth noting that the two TV hosts, Lemon and Carlson, were ousted by their networks on the same day.
The Twitter CEO responded to the tweet of the ex-CNN host confirming his departure from the network, inviting him to host a show on Twitter. Musk boasts that the "audience is much bigger" on the online platform.
