Russia-Ukraine War: Russian Forces Fire 30 Cruise Missiles at Various Ukraine Areas

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 29 of them.

Russia unleashed an offensive of 30 cruise missiles on several regions of Ukraine early on Thursday, escalating the war once more.

Twenty-nine of the Russian missiles were successfully shot down by Ukrainian air defenses, according to AP News.

Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the area's military administration, stated that one missile tragically managed to impact an industrial building in the southern district of Odesa, causing one fatality and two injuries.

Along with repelling the missile attack, Ukraine also successfully shot down two Russian spy drones and an exploding drone.

Russia launched six Kinzhal aero-ballistic hypersonic missiles in a single strike, according to Ukrainian air force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat.

Attacks on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, increased as Russian soldiers assaulted the city for the ninth time this month. The powerful explosions shook the city, causing debris to drop in two areas and a garage complex to blaze.

The chief of the Kyiv Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, said there was no current information about any casualties.

The latest Russian missile attack occurred following China's special envoy meeting with officials of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

Li Hui, the Chinese envoy, earlier met with the foreign minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, and other government representatives to advance a diplomatic resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, according to Arab News.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, said at a media briefing that there is "no remedy" for the problem and highlighted the need for all sides in the Russia-Ukraine war to cooperate to create favorable circumstances and foster trust.

Train Carrying Grains Gets Derailed in Crimea

The Chinese special envoy visited Ukraine following a phone dialogue between Ukrainian President Zelensky and Chinese Chief Executive Xi Jinping on April 26.

Meanwhile, there were reports of an explosion that derailed eight railway carriages in Russian-occupied Crimea. These occurrences sparked worries about possible Ukrainian sabotage inside Russian forces. The train carried grain, as per a report from CBC.

The Crimean Railway Company claims the disaster was caused by illegal intervention and happened close to the city of Simferopol. No fatalities were recorded.
