Disney's "Star Wars" Galactic Starcruiser Hotel in Florida is closing its doors to patrons for good this September, the House of Mouse confirms.
The ultra-lavish Star Wars-themed Galactic Starcruiser in Disney World opened last year, making it one of the newest attractions in the Florida theme park.
Disney 'Star Wars' Galactic Starcruiser Hotel To Close Down
Despite generating considerable buzz, especially among "Star Wars" fans, since opening last year, Disney World is letting go of the immersive and ultra-expensive hotel.
According to CNN, the intergalactic immersive experience costs $4,800 to $6,000 per person for a two-night stay. The pricing solely depends on the number of people attending the party.
The House of Mouse describes the Star Wars-themed accommodation as a "premium and boutique experience." The newly launched hotel, home to roughly 100 rooms, is closing its doors to guests on September 30. The final booking available to customers will be on September 28.
Due to the move to shut down the immersive Disney World hotel, Disney vows to reach out to customers who booked a voyage beyond the closing date. The giant firm will allow guests to "discuss their options and modify their plans."
'Star Wars' Galactic Starcruiser Hotel
As per The Verge, Disney launched the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel last March 2022, opening its doors to eager "Star Wars" fans last year. The hotel at Disney World is primarily based on the Halcyon in Star Wars. And as such, it flaunts numerous interactive events and themed dining spaces as it provides a top-notch immersive experience.
A Disney spokesperson says, "Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment."
Despite the significant fanfare when the immersive hotel launched, some guests and reviewers complained about the Galactic Starcuisers' flaws. According to Variety, some find it too small, while others criticize the windowless rooms, which seek to produce a spaceship-like vibe.
Above these complaints, reports suggest that the ultra-immersive theme park hotel is struggling. Rumor has it that it suffers from a low occupancy rate. In other words, its 100-room offerings are mostly empty.
Meanwhile, some chatter online raises the possibility of Disney lowering the hefty prices of the "Star Wars" hotel.
However, instead of announcing a price cut, the House of Mouse confirmed that the newly opened attraction is shuttering its doors later this year, or on September 30, to be exact.
