According to CNN, the Foo Fighters have turned a new page in their illustrious career by adding a powerhouse drummer following the untimely passing of Hawkins.

The Grammy Award-winning rock band announced their successor of Hawkins amid its Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts Livestream. The humorous announcement discussed hiring the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

The rock band visits Tommy Lee and Tool drummer Danny Carey in the live stream. But later on, Freese entered the picture, asking if they could start playing music together.

Freese, a seasoned drummer with an impressive musical pedigree, steps into the spotlight as the newest addition to the Foo Fighters family. He used to play for renowned bands in the rock n' roll industry, including Guns N' Roses, Blink-182, Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, and Paramore.

But despite his history with these well-known rock groups, Freese humbly claims he is "kind of under the radar." He told Entertainment Weekly last 2009, "I'm probably famous to the drummer kid that lives down the street from me, but that's about it."

However, as per Daily Mail, it is still being determined if Freese is joining the band as a full-time drummer. He might be performing solely for the upcoming tour stops of the award-winning rock group.

Hawkins, known for his explosive energy and unparalleled stage presence, passed away more than a year ago or in March 2022, at 50. The former Foo Fighters drummer unexpectedly died while the rock band was on a Colombia tour.

The late drummer started playing for Foo Fighters in 1997, three years after the rock band's debut. And since then, he remained a mainstay of the award-winning group.

But in March last year, Hawkins tragically died after grappling with chest pains while in his accommodation for the Colombia tour at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel. Daily Mail notes that the autopsy of the late Foo drummer disclosed that he had multiple substances in his body upon his untimely death.

This January, the renowned rock band hinted that they plan to move forward despite the passing of their beloved drummer last March. The group says, "Without Taylor, we know that [we are] going to be a different band going forward."
