After four long months, the Jodi Arias murder trial is coming to an end. The defense will make their closing arguments on Friday, and then the jury is expected to begin deliberations later that day.
Prosecutor Juan Martinez concluded the state's closing arguments on Wednesday. He called Arias a "manipulative liar" and explained how Arias lied from the start and is still lying now to fool the jury into believing she is the victim, according to the Associated Press.
"This is an individual who will stop at nothing, and who will continue to be manipulative and will lie at every turn," Martinez told the jury.
Martinez's closing arguments included showing graphic autopsy photographs of Travis Alexander, the ex-boyfriend Arias is accused of murdering, to the jurors. The prosecutor showed photo after photo of Alexander's decomposed, stab-riddled body, along with images of the gunshot wound in Alexander's forehead and images of the bloody crime screen.
The family and friends of Alexander wept and looked away.
Prosecutors argue Arias is a homicidal, obsessive and jealous ex-girlfriend who couldn't cope with Alexander ending their relationship.
Arias could face the death penalty if she is convicted of first-degree murder. In order for a first-degree murder conviction, the state must prove that Alexander's murder was premeditated.
The state's claim the murder was planned hinges on a police report filed by Arias' grandparents. The report indicates a .25 caliber handgun, the same caliber used to shoot Alexander, was stolen from their house. The burglary occurred almost a week before Alexander was killed and two days after he indicated through text messages to Arias that he no longer wanted to see her.
Arias had been staying with her grandparents at that time. The murder weapons were never found.
"This is a meticulous approach to premeditation," Martinez said. "This is a meticulous approach to killing."
The defense's closing arguments will focus on conveying to the jury that Arias is the real victim. They will depict Alexander as a cheating womanizer who emotionally and physically abused Arias, leading her to kill him in self-defense during an altercation in 2008.
After the defense's closing arguments, the judge is expected to give the case to the jury so they can begin their deliberations and decide Arias' fate.
The trial resumes Friday at noon ET. You can watch HERE.
