Usher's Stepson Dies: Georgia Man Found Guilty of Homicide by Vessel in Kile Glover Case

A Hall County jury found the Georgia man involved in the death of an 11-year-old guilty of homicide by vessel on Thursday.

Jeffrey Simon Hubbard was also convicted of reckless operation of a vessel, unlawful operation of a personal watercraft and a boat traffic violation in the case of Kile Glover, who is pop singer Usher's stepson.

Kile is the son of Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster, and television exec Ryan Glover.

Hubbard reportedly crashed summer 2012 on Lake Lanier, located northeast of Atlanta, the Associated Press reported. The incident left Kile dead and another teen severely wounded.

According to law enforcement officials who carried out an investigation on the case, Kile was riding an inner tube being pulled by a boat when Hubbard ran him over. The young boy died from serious head injuries around two weeks later, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The young boy was reportedly wearing a life vest at the time of the event. But when rescuers pulled the 11-year-old from the water, he was pronounced unresponsive.

Kile was being pulled with a 15-year-old girl who was also sitting in an inner tube. The two were trailing a pontoon boat when Hubbard collided with the children, according to a previous report submitted by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Hubbard's attorney stated that the entire incident was a complete accident, and had nothing to do with recklessness.

Tameka Foster said she didn't doubt that Hubbard, who was a friend of the family's, didn't mean to harm the young boy.

"At the end of the day, I know he didn't do it on purpose," Foster told Channel 2 Action News. "He could've only loved Kile."

Hubbard, who was arrested in March of last year, will go to the sentencing portion of his trial on March 5, 1:30 p.m.
