The actress explained to MTV's Josh Horowitz she was afraid to celebrate because she hadn't received confirmation from the studio confirming she would be a part of the film.
"According to Twitter, I am [in the movie]. I literally have not heard a thing, which is alarming," Mara told MTV News. "Last night in bed, I was scrolling through movie news. I was like, 'What? I got the part?' I still haven't heard. I want LA to wake up so that I can make some phone calls and figure this out."
Mara claimed she honestly didn't know if she had the part and wasn't playing coy about the film.
"I literally don't know 100 percent that I have that part," she said. "I don't like to celebrate before something's real because how embarrassing would that be? I hope so."
Mara told MTV News she knows nothing about Sue Storm, but would buy the comic books and watch the previous "Fantastic Four" to get more background information. As for Michael B. Jordan playing Sue Storm's younger brother, Mara doesn't see the issue with it.
"Again, I credit Josh Trank for that because... he thinks outside the box," Mara explained. "I don't actually know whose idea that was, but it just makes me trust that he's going to make an awesome movie. Regardless of myself, I'm such a massive fan of all those guys."
Jordan's "That Awkward Moment" costar Miles Teller is slated for the role of Mr. Fantastic and actor Jamie Bell will play The Thing.
