At least 20 mass shootings occurred during the Memorial Day weekend, killing 17 people and injuring over 80.

The Gun Violence Archive, which tracks such instances, found 20 occasions when four or more individuals were wounded or died, excluding the perpetrators. The incidents of gun violence occurred from Friday afternoon through Monday night, according to USA Today.

A heated confrontation between two groups resulted in a shooting along a boardwalk as Memorial Day travelers in Hollywood Beach, Florida, celebrated the holiday, injuring nine people.

All nine patients were taken to the hospital after what the police said was a dispute between two groups that became violent. The injured person's condition is unclear, and children may have been hurt.

Telemundo Chicago cameras caught a fight at Chicago's North Avenue Beach on Friday afternoon, signaling the start of holiday weekend gun violence. Gunshots were fired during the confrontation, but no injuries were recorded.

20-Year-Old Arizona Man Goes on Shooting Spree

After numerous gunshots Friday afternoon and early Saturday in Mesa, Arizona, police arrested 20-year-old Iren Byers, suspected of committing these violent crimes, inflicting harm on one person while murdering four others. The Mesa victim, a 36-year-old woman, is stable and slated for surgery, according to Mesa Police Representative Detective Brandi George.

Byers faces four first-degree murder charges and one attempted murder charge. According to NBC News, he is being detained without bail until additional legal action is taken.

On Saturday, Seattle police responded to allegations of a shooting at Roxbury Lanes Casino. Three people were hurt, but the extent of their wounds has not yet been made public. The culprit was still at large on Monday morning.

On Saturday, a motorcycle rally shooter was captured in Red River, New Mexico. Three people died in the horrific encounter, while five others, including the suspect, were hurt. Anthony Silva, 26, of Los Lunas, Randy Sanchez, 46, of Albuquerque, and Damian Breaux, 46, of Socorro, were killed.

After receiving medical attention for his wounds, the suspect, 30-year-old Rio Rancho resident Jacob David Castillo, will be detained at the Taos County Detention Facility.

Youngsters Killed in Atlanta; Train Shooting in Washington

In Garden Grove, California, where three individuals were hurt, including two critically, in an incident at Hot Restaurant and Lounge on Saturday night, further gunfire has been reported. Sergeant Nick Jensen of Garden Grove Police said the shooter argued before firing.

In Atlanta, Georgia, a shooting early on Sunday morning at an unapproved assembly at Benjamin E. Mays High School resulted in the deaths of one youngster and the injury of another.

At 2:30 a.m., police found a 16-year-old girl and a boy with gunshot wounds. The girl died despite medical treatment, while the boy is stable.

On Sunday night, a shooting was reported on a Green Line train at the Navy Yard stop in Washington, DC. One man was shot numerous times in the upper body after a battle with the shooter, according to Metro Transit Police. The person died despite lifesaving efforts.

Another Memorial Day shooting occurred in Charleston County, South Carolina. One of six people shot near a nightclub died. The sheriff's office reported that no one had been taken into custody about the incident as of the present time, according to WION.

Memorial Day shootings underscore the US' persisting problem of gun violence. Pew Research Center data indicate that, on average, there are 57 gun-related killings in the United States per day.
