Motorola debuted its Moto Razr+ or Razr Plus foldable alongside the 2023 Razr, confirming its price, release date, and specifications.
As leaks suggest in the past month leading to its debut, the all-new Razr Plus flaunts a massive cover screen.
Motorola Moto Razr+ Foldable Debuts
According to Insider, Motorola made its new Razr and Razr Plus foldable phones official on June 1. The latest lineup resembles the sought-after Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, which sports a sleek clamshell-style flip design.
The new foldable offering pays homage to the Razr flip phone, which took the world by storm in the mid-2000s. Back then, touch screens had yet to conquer mobile devices, and Apple's iPhone had yet to be a thing. Yet, flip-style phones were the rage during that era.
But this time, Motorola, which Chinese firm Lenovo now owns, released the fourth generation of its modern take on the flip-style device. It officially introduced the Moto 2023 Razr and the Razr Plus. The latter sets itself apart by flaunting a massive outage display, enabling users to access apps like Instagram while the phone is folded.
Moto Razr+ Release Date
The Razr Plus is hitting the shelves in the next following days, or on June 16, to be precise. Motorola confirms that it will be available for pre-order on its official website in the US. On top of that, it is also coming to giant retailers, such as Amazon and Best Buy. The new foldable is heading to carriers like T-Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, and AT&T.
The next-generation clamshell offering sells to the tune of $999.99. The nearly $1,000 pricing is similar to the cost of buying a brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Razr Plus vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
The Razr Plus features a powerful processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the flagship processor of Qualcomm in 2022. According to Tom's Guide, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 also offers that same chipset.
Meanwhile, the Motorola and Samsung foldable devices offer 8 GB of RAM. While the Galaxy Z Flip 4 delivers up to 512 GB of internal storage, the Razr Plus only provides a 256 GB option, which is still enough to install several apps, photos, and videos.
As for their cameras, the two phones rock a 12-megapixel primary camera. However, the Motorola impressively features a 32 MP selfie snapper, whereas the Flip 4 only comes with 10 MP.
For the most part, their specs are closely within the same range except for the cover display. The Samsung Flip only has a 1.9-inch screen. On the flip side, the Razr Plus boasts a 3.6-inch OLED with a buttery smooth 144Hz refresh rate.
The Verge reports that the massive outer display runs apps like YouTube and Instagram. The Moto Razr Plus can also browse the web via Chrome, while Samsung Flip 4's cover screen only shows notifications and other information.
