James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, will examine the document he and his committee subpoenaed from the FBI alleging that then Vice President Joe Biden engaged in a criminal bribery conspiracy with a foreign national.
When he examines the document, an unclassified 1023 form, Comer will receive a briefing from the FBI in a sensitive information facility on Capitol Hill, according to a committee spokesperson.
Biden Criminal Bribery Probe
However, the Republican lawmaker has not relented in his demand that the FBI deliver the file he and his fellow committee Republicans requested last month, which could implicate President Biden and advance contempt charges against FBI Director Christopher Wray if the FBI does not comply.
Per Washington Examiner, the FBI stated that it has "consistently demonstrated its commitment to working with the committee to facilitate its request, from scheduling briefings and phone calls to now permitting the chair and ranking member to examine information in person."
Last month, Comer issued a subpoena to the FBI for the FD-1023 form, which he and Sen. Chuck Grassley claim describes an alleged criminal conspiracy involving Biden "including the exchange of money for policy decisions."
Comer stated that the scheme involved a foreign national paying $5 million in exchange for a policy outcome. The agency will deliver the document to Capitol Hill and brief Comer and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland), according to a committee spokesperson. The FBI initially requested that legislators examine the document at FBI headquarters, according to NBC News.
The senior law enforcement official told NBC News that the FBI and a US attorney appointed by then-President Donald Trump reviewed the allegation when it was made in 2020, as well as other information regarding Hunter Biden's dealings in Ukraine.
The allegation of bribery was unfounded, the official stated. Former Attorney General William Barr had requested that the United States Attorney in Pittsburgh investigate the Biden Ukraine matter.
This week, Grassley, who is also pursuing the document, stated that Republicans "are not concerned with whether or not the allegations against Biden are factual," but rather with ensuring that the FBI complies with the subpoena.
Christopher Durham, acting assistant director of the FBI, warned this week in a letter to Comer that FD-1023 forms record information provided to the FBI, but that recording the information "does not validate the information, establish its credibility, or compare it to other information known to or developed by the FBI."
The FBI has also expressed concern that releasing the document could endanger the source's life. Republicans have stated that they are not interested in the identity of the informant, but the subpoena demands the entire document.
In a statement released on Friday, the FBI said it had requested "commonsense protections" to ensure the privacy of sensitive information.
The agency routinely makes such requests in response to congressional requests and in criminal court proceedings "to safeguard the physical protection of sources and the integrity of investigations," it said, adding that it "remains committed to cooperating in good faith with the Committee."

Accuser is 'Highly Credible' Source
Meanwhile, Fox News Digital has learned that the source of the information that Biden was involved in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national is a "highly credible" FBI confidential human source who has been used by the bureau in multiple investigations dating back to the Obama administration.
A source told Fox News Digital on Friday that the confidential human source who furnished the FBI with the Biden information was a "pre-existing" FBI source who has been utilized in multiple investigations unrelated to the Biden matter.
The source informed Fox News Digital that the FBI used the confidential human source for "at least several years" prior to the compilation of the FD-1023 form detailing the Biden allegations in June 2020.
