Ukraine Counter-Attack: WWI-Like Images Appear as Russian Troop ‘Flee’

The Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin confirmed that Ukraine troops have retaken Berkhivka.

The Ukraine counter-attack recreates World War One (WWI)-style images as Russian troops were seen "fleeing Bakhmut' in a new video.

A footage showing a wave of Ukrainian troops valiantly advancing to the positions of Russian soldiers is now making waves online.

Ukraine Counter-Attack Creates WWI-Style Images

According to a report by The Sun Australia, new footage showcases how Ukraine soldiers are counter-attacking Russian troops in the country's eastern region. Russian troops are reportedly "fleeing" Bakhmut following the fierce counter-attack of the Ukrainian forces.

The photos, which were reportedly taken in the town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, show soldiers running across a field toward enemy lines. The troops are seen carrying rifles while sporting helmets. Some were also wearing gas masks.

The images have been shared widely on social media, and many people have commented on how they resemble photos from the historical World War One. Some responses point out that the Ukrainian troops are advancing to the positions of Russia ala World War One. The First World War was a trench warfare conflict that lasted from 1914 to 1918, and it was characterized by horrific casualties.

The images come as Ukrainian forces launch a counter-offensive against Russian troops in the east of the country. The Ukrainian military has said that it has made significant gains in recent days, and it is now pushing Russian forces back toward the border.

The Russian military has yet to comment on the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

Ukraine Troops Retake Berkhivka

As per The Sun UK, no less than the leader of the Wagner Group mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, confirmed that the Ukrainian troops have successfully retaken Berkhivka from the hands of the Russian military.

The Wagner Group boss called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring his military chief to the frontline of the Ukraine invasion to have a first-hand look at the oversight from their own eyes.

The Sun notes that the mercenary group claimed to have taken over Bakhmut in May. After this, they handed over the eastern Ukraine city to the Russian troops.

But since then, Ukraine's military has counter-attacked against Russia in the devastated city.

The Wagner Group leader himself says that "part of the settlement of Berkhivka has already been lost, the troops are quietly running away. Prigozhin slammed the victory of Ukraine troops as a "disgrace" to the Russian army.

But despite that, the Evening Standard UK reports that one of the top diplomats of Ukraine admits the reality of their counteroffensive tactics.

The deputy head of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Igor Zhovkva, discloses that they do not "have enough" weapons to carry out their plans.

And as such, Zhovkva, Ukraine's chief foreign affairs adviser, assures that he is now gearing up to obtain more weapons and ammunition, as well as support, for a successful counterattack against the Russian troops.
