Conor McGregor sent the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, to the hospital, after punching it twice!
It happened during the NBA Finals Game 4 between the Heat and the Denver Nuggets. During the third-quarter break, there was a skit involving the UFC fighter and the NBA mascot.
This gimmick was supposed to promote a cooling pain relief spray product from McGregor. Unfortunately, the skit didn't end up well, especially for the man behind the Burnie costume.
Conor McGregor Sends Miami Heat Mascot Burnie To Hospital!
According to NBC News' latest report, the man wearing the Burnie costume, who wasn't identified, received medical attention after getting punched by Conor McGregor.
Before the incident happened, the Miami Heat mascot was seen wearing a red cape and oversized boxing gloves. He was also acting like he was preparing for a big fight with McGregor. When Burnie got close to Conor, the UFC fighter sprayed his pain relief product on Burnie.
Then, in a split second, McGregor quickly punched the mascot in the head. After knocking Burnie down, he followed up with another punch; hitting the mascot's face.
While other employees are carrying Burnie out of the court, McGregor sprayed his pain relief product again on Burnie.
All these happenings look fake since it is part of an ad gimmick. However, the man behind the mascot was actually sent to the hospital.
Is Burnie okay?
CBS reported that after receiving two punches from McGregor, the man behind the mascot was quickly taken to a nearby ER for treatment.
Burnie received pain medicines and was sent home. Thankfully, the NBA employee is reportedly doing well.
Many fans shared their opinions about this Miami Heat incident. Some of them said asked what was wrong with McGregor.
Meanwhile, others blamed the management; asking why the man behind the mascot wasn't provided complete headgear underneath.
Aside from fans, UFC President Dana Frederick White Jr. also shared his opinion.
However, instead of blaming the NBA management or McGregor, it looks like he was blaming Burnie based on his statements.
"I wouldn't have professional fighters punching me in the face if I was a mascot. Doesn't seem like the brightest thing in the world," said Dana.
