WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 10: US President Joe Biden speaks at the Pride Month celebration on the South Lawn of the White House on June 10, 2023 in Washington, DC. Thousands of people came to the white house to celebrate pride month with a performance by singer Betty Who.

According to The Daily Mail UK, the Biden administration touted the recent Pride Month event at the White House as the largest in history. The festivities were supposed to kick off last Thursday, June 8. But due to the hazardous air from the widespread wildfires in Canada, triggering poor air quality in Washington, it has been postponed.

The President graced the Pride event at the White House, wherein he unveiled the display of the Pride flag at its front and center, sandwiched between two US flags. Besides that, Biden also spoke about advancing the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, including trans kids, stressing that they belong.

For the LGBTQ+ community, the support of Biden means a lot. However, Twitter users were quick to criticize the placement of the Pride flag at the White House event, as per TMZ.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton accused Biden of violating the US Flag Code in his recent tweet, noting that the defiance is disrespectful. He wrote, "Biden violates the basic tenet of the US Flag Code and disrespects every American service member buried under its colors."

The US Flag Code or section 7, article (e) says, "The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs."

In other words, the Flag Code requires the red, white, and blue symbol at the front and center. Some Twitter users have argued that the White House's display lambasts the American flag and the veterans who have fought and died for the country.

On the other hand, others expressed their support for the rainbow-colored flag display. They say it is simply a sign of support for the LGBTQ community.

Fox News reports that first lady Jill Biden also expressed her support for the LGBTQ community during the Pride event at the White House. Meanwhile, Biden took the opportunity to honor LGBTQ folks, which for him, are "some of the bravest and most inspiring" people.
