Russian missile attacks killed three people in the Ukrainian Black Sea port city of Odesa early Wednesday morning.

According to Ukrainian officials, the three that were killed in Odesa were in a retail chain warehouse when the attack happened. The missile strike also targeted a business center, a school, a residential complex, food establishments, and shops.

Videos and photographs on social media show firefighters attempting to extinguish the fire in what appeared to be a warehouse.

According to Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for Ukraine's southern defensive forces noticed a pattern to the recent strikes. "The missile attack on the Odesa region was apparently aimed at the objects sought by the enemy in the area of logistics support for the defense forces," she said.

In addition, Andriy Yermak, the head of the office of the Ukrainian presidency, mentioned the Russians used Kalibr cruise missiles, saying economic sanctions against Russia should be tightened. "Each of these missiles has at least 40 foreign components," he said. "Without microelectronics, Russia will not be able to produce them."

Attacks in Donetsk, Sumy Oblasts

Meanwhile, Donetsk oblast governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said two people were killed in the city of Kramatorsk and another one in Kostiantynivka. "The missiles...hit private houses in the cities and caused significant damage," he said. "In Kramatorsk, at least 5 private houses were destroyed and about two dozen damaged, in Kostiantynivka, two were destroyed and 55 damaged."

Despite the damage and loss of life, the Ukrainian air force reported it destroyed three Russian missiles and nine drones during the overnight strikes.

Earlier in the week, the Ukrainian prosecutor's office said four forest workers and two other civilians were killed when their car came under fire in a forest in the Sumy region, close to the border with Russia. However, the said report could not be independently verified.

Vladimir Rogov, a top Russian official, has also been reportedly killed in a missile strike as part of the Ukrainian counteroffensive on the Zaporizhzhya front.

Russia also said it repelled Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions in the last 24 hours. In addition, Russian forces were reported to target Ukrainian arms warehouses.
