The Russian government is well-known for boasting its military technologies.

There are even some instances when Russian officials touted defense innovations that are claimed to be unmatched by other countries, even the United States.

Now, the Russian government claims that it enhanced its defense capability against threats in space.

The Russian space forces commander told Shoigu that the new defense site is equipped with unique defense capabilities.

These include enhancements for the detection, automatic search, and controlling tiny space objects in near-Earth space.

One of the most advanced capabilities of this new Russian military site is tracking space objects as small as four inches (10 cm).

The Russian government claims that as early as 2027, the new military site will have the ability to detect spacecraft post-launch four times faster.

Aside from this, it could also determine the purpose of the spacecraft twice as fast as before.

Other Countries Enhance Space Defense

Aside from Russia, other countries are also making drastic efforts to further improve their space defense capabilities.

One of these nations is Japan. The Register reported that the Japanese government finally adopted its very first space security plan.

Officials stated that this new space security plan will likely include counterstrike capabilities.

Prime Minister Fumio announced that the new "Basic Plan for Space Policy" is a big deal for Japan.

This is because it presents a vision of the future of disaster prevention and mitigation, security, innovation, space civil sectors, as well as spacecraft.

Kishida explained that utilizing outer space is important since the security environment is already becoming more complex than ever.
