Dozens of companies and organizations, including several U.S. agencies, have been hacked as part of the cyberattack.

Reuters reported that the cybersecurity agency didn't identify the affected U.S.-based companies.

"CISA is providing support to several federal agencies that have experienced intrusions," said CISA Executive Assistant Director Eric Goldstein.

He added that they are already working to know more about the cyberattack's impact scope and to ensure timely remediation.

Meanwhile, CISA Directo Jen Easterly said the U.S. government doesn't expect any significant impact from the cyber breach.

However, Huntress Senior Researcher John Hammond said that there's a chance that the MOVEIt cybersecurity hack could lead to something more serious.

MOVEIt Hack's Details

MOVEIt Transfer is a popular file-sharing software developed by Progress Software.

It is widely used by agencies, banks, and universities in the United States.

CL0P, a rising ransomware group, claimed that they are the ones who hacked the file-sharing software.

The hacking organization recently posted a list of its victims on a dark web leak page.

CL0P claimed that among the U.S. agencies they hacked are the First National Bankers Bank, 1st Source Bank, Landal Greenparks, and Putnam Investments.

These affected companies are still being followed by more as multiple organizations confirmed that their systems have also been compromised; BBC, British Airways, and Aer Lingus said so.

But it looks like this hacking group doesn't want to attack U.S. government agencies.

"If you are a government, city, or police service, do not worry, we erased all your data, said CL0P on its official dark web leak site.
