Whistleblower Reveals Details About Boris' Partygate Scandal
According to The Independent UK's latest report, the whistleblower claims that Boris was aware of the parties happening during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former Downing Street official added that the ex-PM was "happy" to have his staff drinking to the point that some of them passed out on the stairway.
The No. 10 insider said that he was embarrassed to be a part of the charade that Boris and his staff organized to cover up their COVID rule-breaking activities inside the office.
Here are the specific details that the whistleblower revealed:
- No. 10 staff were commonly ill. However, they were ordered not to wear masks.
- Staff who were traveling with the former U.K. prime minister were told to wear masks when riding trains in case of cameras.
- Some staff panicked and started deleting pictures, as well as shredding material showing the previous Partygate stories.
- The ex-U.K. leader oversaw a toxic masculine culture at the Downing Street office.
- Johnson was aware that parties were regularly happening at the Downing Street office during COVID-19 lockdowns.
Johnson Allegedly Misled UK Parliament
Reuters reported that Johnson is accused of deliberately misleading the British parliament over the Partygate scandal.
The privileges committee (the main disciplinary body for lawmakers) said that the former PM should be stripped of having automatic access to the U.K. parliament.
"We conclude that in deliberately misleading the House Mr Johnson committed a serious contempt," said the committee.
