Tsarnaev Wife Refuses to Talk to Authorities, Communicates Through Attorney

The FBI wants to speak with wife of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, to figure out just how much she knew before the Tsarnaev brothers placed two pressure cooker bombs at the finish line.

But widow Katherine Russell has ceased all direct communication with law enforcement officials, after the FBI began questioning her level of involvement with the bombings. She has, instead, shuttled all messages through her attorney, and maintains that she only knew about her husband's role in the attack when police began looking for him and his brother, Dzhokhar.

Russell is currently not a suspect and has not been charged with any crime. Despite that, investigators are still looking into her involvement, as she was closely related to both of the suspects.

The FBI visited Russell's family home in Rhode Island last week to take her DNA sample, after tests on shrapnel confirmed that a woman had handled one of the two bombs at some point.

Her results did not match the DNA on the fragment, reports the Epoch Times.

After police came to her home, Russell reportedly requested her lawyers only communicate with authorities.

The FBI is still curious about her involvement, though, and wants answers-especially since younger brother Dzhokhar, who was found hiding on a boat in Watertown, Massachusetts, has revealed some information in questioning potentially linking Russell to the attacks.

Dzhokhar reportedly told interrogators that Russell saw the photos and videos of the two brothers on the news before authorities had identified him. She called her husband to warn him, saying, "you're being watched."

This still does not verify whether or not Russell had any direct connection to the bombings, but does not bode well for her.

Amato DeLuca, Russell's attorney, says that the wife had no knowledge whatsoever of what Tamerlan was plotting.

She also said that Russell will do everything in her power to cooperate with authorities.

"She is doing everything she can to assist with the investigation," DeLuca stated. "The report of involvement by her husband and brother-in-law came as an absolute shock to them all."
