These include their mother's death, their grandmother being killed by her partner, and Jay's suicide.
When their mother, Jordana Carr, died, his brother was just 13 years old. Ashlee said that her death took a heavy toll on the footballer's mental health.
As Jay's mental health deteriorated, Ashlee said that he became obsessed with David Fuller and what he had done to their mother's corpse.

Because of this, the man's family said that authorities should not have informed Jay about what happened to their mother's body.
Police Played a Role in Jay's Suicide
Ashlee said that her brother was recovering from their mother's death as he reached adulthood.
He already had a stable job as a car valet and had a loving girlfriend.
However, Jay's mental health worsened again after the police informed them in 2021 about David Fuller's necrophilia crime.
BBC News reported that the family of Jay Carr was notified by the police regarding the abuse experienced by their mother's body.
"Out of the blue we were notified that our mother's body was abused while under the care of Pembury Hospital," said the family
"We felt pressured by the police officers who notified us to tell Jay and his other siblings," they added.
Mr. Carr's family further stated that although they informed police officers regarding Jay's mental health, they still insisted that the footballer should know about what happened.
After Jay was informed (in graphic detail) about what David Fuller did to their mother's corpse, his mental health started to decline.
On September 17, 2022, Jay went missing. Three days after, his body was found. Because of this, the family blames the police authorities for telling Jay.
They said that they are hoping that Jay's death would make the police reflect on how they inform families about tragic events involving their loved ones.
