The hip-hop sensation can finally breathe a sigh of relief as news broke that he will not face any criminal charges about the tragic 2021 Astroworld crowd crush. As per a report by NBC News, A Texas grand jury has declined to press criminal charges against the rapper Scott and five others over a 2021 crowd crush at his Astroworld Festival that left ten people dead and injured thousands.

The grand jury's decision, announced Thursday, comes after a 19-month investigation into the tragedy. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg confirmed that the grand jury ruled that Scott and his cohorts were not criminally responsible for the deaths during the music festival.

The Harris County District Attorney stresses that "a tragedy [is not] always a crime, and not every death is a homicide." Ogg further acknowledges, "It is tragic that ten innocent people were killed while trying to enjoy an evening of music and entertainment." She points out that some of us do such fun activities "without a second thought to our safety."

But despite that, Ogg explains that the grand jury's decision does not affect the multiple pending civil lawsuits filed against Scott.

Meanwhile, according to Reuters, Scott's lawyer Kent Schaffer argues that the grand jury's determination proves that the rapper was not responsible for the Astroworld tragedy, which took the lives of ten concertgoers.

Schaffer urges the government to focus its efforts on preventing similar "heartbreaking tragedies" similar to Astroworld from recurring. As XLL Magg reports, the Houston Police Department held a press conference to disclose the grand jury's decision.

Besides the sensational rapper, the grand jury's decision clears five other people, which includes the Live Nation festival manager Brent Silberstein. Silberstein's lawyer Christopher Downey pointed out that his client "did everything they could to run a safe festival."
