As per a report by NBC News, Pepsi introduced its first-ever condiment - the Pepsi Colachup, which debuts on the 4th of July or Independence Day in the United States (US). As its name gives away, it is ketchup with

The iconic soft drink brand, which rivals Coca-Cola, worked hand-in-hand with the experts, the Culinary Institute of America or the CIA Consulting to make its first condiment for hot dogs possible.

Entrepreneur.com reports that the CIA Consulting director for client experience David Kamen stresses that the creation is a "new way to enjoy two American classics," cola and hotdogs. He points out that the taste of the soda helped enhance the tangy ketchup.

With that said, as much as some might find the combination pretty intriguing, culinary experts are involved in its development. It unconventionally combines the sweet and tangy flavors of ketchup with the refreshing taste of cola.

Pepsi senior director Jenny Danzi says that pairing Pepsi with hot dogs has been part of American culture. So this time, they wanted to create a condiment based on this notion. She claims that the Colachup flaunts notes of rich caramel and citrusy pop of Pepsi-Cola.

According to CNN, the Colachup will be available for a limited time at select baseball stadiums across the US on July 4th.

It remains to be seen if Pepsi plans to offer Colachup in grocery stores. For now, you may get your hands on it in time for Independence Day on the Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, and Arizona Diamondbacks via their "exclusive in-stadium sampling" during their games.

Fans can also get a free Pepsi when they buy a hot dog or hot dogs at any food service or retail location through July 4th. However, customers must text "FREEPEPSI" to 81234 and upload a receipt proving their hot dog and Pepsi purchase to redeem the offer.

It is worth noting that Pepsi is no stranger to creating innovative new products. In recent years, the company has released interesting mashups, such as its Pepsi-flavored Cheetos. But, to be frank, Colachup may be its most daring creation yet.

A Twitter user says, "This is daring lol." Another tweeted that the Colachup is presumably good since "Root Beer BBQ sauce is amazing."

On the other hand, some users are skipping this new Pepsi creation. One Twitter user quips, "This sort of thing is why people like Coke more."
