Best Buy to Introduce 9-Inch Tablet With Mid-$200 Price Tag

Best Buy confirmed that it will sell its own tablet, the Android-based "Insignia Flex," for $239 to $259.

According to a Reuters report, Best Buy will foray into the tablet market to compete with the biggies like Apple iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire HD tablet and Google's Nexus 7 etc on Nov. 11.

The main difference is that Best Buy's cheap tablet is not small, but a full size 9.7-inch tablet. Insignia Flex that runs on Google's Android software will feature a dual-core 1GHz processor and 10-hour battery life, Best Buy's in-house brand revealed the details on its Facebook page.

The tablet is expected to go on sale on Nov. 11 and price will be somewhere between $239-$259. The Reuters report further said the device will feature a camera for video conferencing and weigh in at about 1.45 pounds.

As the price is same as Google and Amazon's smaller tablets, the new venture from the retail box store will definitely give the biggies a run for their money. Best Buy has always been a major player in the low-end market as it had previously catered the needs of its customers with cheap TVs and Blu-Ray players.
