British tennis star Andy Murray was eliminated in the second round of Wimbledon Friday (July 7) after losing to Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets, telling reporters it might be his last match of the tournament.

The 36-year-old former champion was sent off the court with a standing ovation and roaring applause from the audience after the fifth-seed Tsitsipas defeated him 7-6 (3), 6-7 (2), 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4.

"I'm obviously very disappointed," he told reporters in a post-match interview. "Obviously, you never know how many opportunities you're going to get to play here. The defeats [may] feel a bit tougher."

When asked if he would be back for the 2024 competition at Wimbledon, Murray did not directly answer but hinted he might have been running on fumes for quite some time.

Humble in Victory

When asked about defeating Murray, Tsitsipas said it was "nerve-racking" during the match but also paid tribute to Murray's resilience as an opponent.

"It's never easy against Andy. Everyone loves him here," he added. "It was a very difficult game and I'm very impressed with the way he holds up, having been so many years on the tour and having had two hip surgeries."

Tsitsipas would now face Serbia's Laslo Djere in the competition's third round.
