Instagram Threads is nearing the 100 million user mark in less than a week since Mark Zuckerberg's Meta launched the rival of Elon Musk's Twitter.
The Meta Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zuckerberg recently revealed that Threads already has 70 million sign-ups.
Instagram's Twitter Rival Threads Nears 100 Million Users
Meta's new social media app Threads is quickly gaining traction. The new kid in the block promptly captivated the attention of millions of users across the globe as the latest brainchild of Zuck's tech giant challenges Musk's Twitter.
According to Phone Arena, Instagram Threads have taken the internet by storm. Within just five days of its release, this new app has managed to attract nearly 100 million users, the Search Engine Journal (SEJ) data reveals.
SEJ explains that it got its shocking data by counting the number of Instagram users with a Threads badge. And it turns out that roughly 97 million folks already sport this.
For those who missed it, once an IG user joins to bandwagon and signs up for a Threads account, a badge shows up on their profile, which shares their subscriber number.
The Facebook co-founder Zuck also revealed that Threads has successfully amassed millions of users a few days since its debut. He says the massive growth of the new service was "way beyond [their] expectations."
Threads has successfully leveraged Instagram's vast network to propel its own success. Built as a companion app to Instagram, Threads allows users to seamlessly share various updates with friends and followers. Its integration with Instagram's existing platform has undoubtedly played a significant role in the app's rapid user adoption. By tapping into an already established user base, the new Twitter rival has created a natural path for users to join in and explore its unique features.

Apple Joins the Threads Party
As IG's Threads approaches the 100 million user mark, the iPhone maker Apple has created a handful of accounts on the Twitter rival.
As per 9to5 Mac, Apple is following the route of several celebrities and the fast food giant Wendy's in setting up their Threads account.
The first-ever Apple-related Threads account is Apple News. After this, a bunch of accounts made their way to the latest craze, such as Apple Books and Apple Music. Not to mention, Beats by Dre and Shazam also joined the Twitter rival.
As our friends from Tech Times report, Apple's App Store boss Phil Schiller recently deleted his Twitter account, shortly after Musk took over the platform. The billionaire Tesla and SpaceX boss acquired the social network last year for a whopping $44 billion.
