A new update from Google is creating easier ways to schedule upcoming events, according to a blog post by Boris Khvostichenko a production manager at Google.
As of Friday, Gmail users will see that the dates and times that appear in their emails are “lightly underlined.” While reading an email, the user may click the underlined date or time to schedule a meeting or event without having to open a new window or tab.
Once the date or time has been clicked, the person’s schedule for the day will come up on the screen. A simple click of the “Add to Calendar” button will do just what it says—add the event to the user’s calendar. The update also creates a link on the calendar that will take the user back to the original email.
The post says the update will be “rolling out over the next week to everyone with the English (US) language.” Google will be adding other languages in the future.
