Björn Kjellberg: PewDiePie and Marzia Announces Firstborn Son

The baby boy’s name means ‘bear’ in Scandinavian and Old Norse languages.

Swedish YouTuber Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg and his Italian wife Marzia announced the birth of their firstborn son Wednesday (July 12).

In an Instagram post by Marzia, the couple is seen gazing lovingly at their child in what could be the first family picture for the Kjellbergs.

"11/07/2023. Welcome to the family, little Björn," she captioned, referring to the boy's name and his date of birth.

The Japan-based Swedish-Italian family announced the pregnancy last February. PewDiePie, 33, also announced a few weeks ago he would take a break from YouTube in order to deal with fatherhood.

"I'm very, very, very excited," Felix said in his latest update video. "I don't know what it's gonna be like. I don't know if I'll have time to make videos. Is it gonna be chaos? I don't know."

The YouTuber, who garnered 111 million subscribers on the platform, also thanked those who supported his family's stay in Japan and the vlogs he has been releasing recently.

PewDiePie and Marzia, 30, were married in 2019 and stayed in the UK for most of the COVID-19 pandemic before relocating.

What Does "Björn" Mean?

The name "Björn" is derived from Scandinavian and Old Norse origins. In both languages, the name means "bear". Björn also refers to a cuddly little boy. The boy's name reflects his father's Swedish roots.

In one of the pictures in Marzia's Instagram post, there was also a teddy bear toy featured, confirming the meaning of her son's name.

Happy For the Parents

Both fans of the YouTuber and fellow creators congratulate the Kjellbergs on the news, garnering almost 3.3 million likes on Instagram as of this report.

"Congratulations on a happy healthy baby! Family gang" wrote Irish YouTuber Jacksepticeye.

"We love Björn!" G Fuel's account added. "Cheers to the next chapter, guys!" The brand has been a long-time sponsor of PewDiePie.

"[I] was watching Pewdiepie when I was 12, playing Ammesia," a fan recalled. "[A]nd now, 11 years later, seeing him become a father makes me feel old."

Prior to becoming a family man, Kjellberg has been involved in countless controversies in his decade-long YouTube career.

Despite this, he became the first independent individual YouTube channel to reach 10 billion views on the site.
