Unranked Boston College ended Syracuse's unbeaten record on Wednesday with a 62-59 win in overtime. Things don't get easier for the No. 1 Orange, who must bounce back from the loss on Saturday against No. 5 Duke.
"It's still a big game," Syracuse senior forward C.J. Fair said, via ESPN. "You don't want to lose two in a row. ... I still think this team is special. We can still accomplish something special. It's fun being No. 1 and everybody wants to beat No. 1."
Syracuse (25-1) needed overtime to win in their first meeting of the season against Duke, 91-89. The Blue Devils (21-6) are now not only looking for payback against the Orange, they're looking to avoid losing two straight games after a 74-66 loss on Thursday to North Carolina.
"Our nose is bloody right now," Duke sophomore forward Rodney Hood said. "We've got to wipe it off and get ready for another fight. We've got to move on from it. (Losing to UNC) is a tough one to swallow, but the reality is we've got a really good team coming in on Saturday."
Duke junior guard Quinn Cook emphasized the team's need to move on.
"With this quick turnaround, we've got to get ready for Syracuse on Saturday," said Cook. "We've got to take away the things that we did wrong today, move on tomorrow and be ready to play a good Syracuse team."
