If you're a fan of Ice Cube, then you already know how vocal the American rapper is regarding things he believes are right.
He also showed his attitude during an interview with Piers Morgan on the "Piers Morgan Uncensored" TV show.
Ice Cube Bashes Cancel Culture!
According to Fox News' latest report, Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson Sr.) slammed the cancel culture, saying Americans should fight against this cultural trend.
The American rapper explained that people are polarized in different kinds of ways. They are scared to voice their opinions because of the current cancel culture.
"So I just think people are afraid, and they're running to their corners," said Ice Cube.
Piers Morgan, the TV show's host, also agreed with the statement of Ice Cube. He said that the cancel culture is a "cancer" cultural practice.
Ice Cube also believes the statement of Morgan.
"It does, because it makes not only the person that's getting canceled, they're trying to shut them up, but anybody's watching nowadays shut up because they say if it can happen to this guy, it can happen to me," said Piers.
He added that canceling somebody who shares something you don't like reverberates throughout the entire community.
What is Cancel Culture?
Cancel culture is the action of people to boycott, outcast, or ignore celebrities, businesses, billionaires, and companies who have spoken or acted in a way that people consider unacceptable.
The cancel culture expression circulated in the late 2010s and the early 2020s.
As of writing, the cancel culture is affecting more and more celebrities, business owners, political figures, etc.
One of the latest victims of the cancel culture is Jason Aldean, the country music singer behind the "Try That in Small Town" music video. People criticized him because they claimed that his song contained racial undertones.
Cancel culture may seem good for many people who want others to become more responsible with their actions or words.
But, Business Insider explained that this practice has a lot of negative impacts on society, such as the following:
- Cancel culture no longer promotes accountability. It encourages shame.
- Cancel culture can backfire on those who are using incorrectly using it.
- Cancel culture could become more of a sideshow for entertainment, especially if it focuses on the punishment instead of the offense that happened.
