Rudy Giuliani acknowledged in a court document submitted on Tuesday that he made "false" comments against two Georgia 2020 election workers who are suing him for bogus accusations of fraud.
When conspiracy theorists, as well as then-President Donald Trump and his ally Giuliani, alleged they had committed election fraud in the 2020 presidential election, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea "Shaye" Moss stated that their lives were flipped completely upside down.
Online and by Trump allies, a heavily altered, brief bit of surveillance footage was extensively disseminated as "proof," according to NBC News.
Giuliani claimed Freeman and Moss were "passing around USB ports like they were vials of heroin or cocaine," but according to the committee report from January 6, they were actually passing a ginger mint.
The Jan. 6 committee referred to the pair's treatment as "callous, inhumane, and inexcusable."
Freeman testified to the committee that she "lost my sense of security - all because a group of people, starting with Number 45 and his ally Rudy Giuliani, decided to scapegoat me and my daughter Shaye to push their own lies about how the presidential election was stolen."
Michael J. Gottlieb, a lawyer at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher LLP and a member of the legal team for Freeman and Moss, said in a statement on Wednesday that they are "pleased with this major milestone" in response to Giuliani's submission.
A Giuliani spokeswoman denied the former New York mayor admitted his words were incorrect in a statement released on Wednesday morning, adding that Giuliani "did not contest it in order to move on to the portion of the case that will permit a motion to dismiss."

A Case Dismissed
A year-long investigation into alleged election fraud at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta was dismissed by the Georgia State Election Board last month, clearing Freeman and Moss of wrongdoing. This led to Giuliani's petition.
The investigation's findings said that the charges of fraud were "unsubstantiated and found to have no merit," based on the work of the FBI, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, and the secretariat of state investigators who investigated the alleged fraud.
Giuliani has been a controversial figure throughout his career. He has been praised for his accomplishments as mayor of New York City, but he has also been criticized for his aggressive prosecution style and his close ties to Donald Trump. In recent years, Giuliani has become increasingly isolated from the Republican Party, and he has been the subject of several investigations.
Despite his controversies, Giuliani remains a significant figure in American politics. He is a skilled lawyer and a charismatic speaker, and he has a long history of public service. Whether he will be able to revive his political career remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that Rudy Giuliani will continue to be a controversial figure for years to come.
