According to Forbes' latest report, Meta agreed to the $725 million settlement to settle the allegations claiming that Facebook is sharing users' private information with third-party companies.

These accusations are serious since many of the third-party companies that Meta is allegedly sharing data with are high-profile ones.

The settlement was signed in December 2022. Because of its amount, it is considered the largest class action settlement of its kind.

But, the settlement helped Meta to end years of litigation over Facebook's role in incorrect data sharing with a data consultancy firm used by former U.S. President Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign.
