A police chase conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) ended in a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning (July 28) in South Los Angeles. A white Kia Soul was one of the cars involved in the crash after it hit a fire hydrant, causing water to gush through the car.
The high-speed pursuit began shortly after 11:00 Pacific Time (14:00 Eastern, 18:00 UTC) and ended less than two minutes later, an LAPD spokesperson said.
Video footage from ABC News's LA bureau showed a torrent of water inundating the car after it knocked over the fire hydrant on a sidewalk.
Two other civilian vehicles were damaged in the incident and are considered part of the police investigation. The LAPD said the circumstances prompting the chase were not immediately known and the suspect involved was at large after the crash.
