Over 1 Million Sunflowers Planted by Kansas Farmer to Honor His Wife
According to The Daily Mail UK, a farmer in Kansas surprised his beloved wife with more than 1.2 million sunflowers.
70-year-old Lee Wilson said that he secretly planted the sunflowers across 80 acres of land. His son assisted him on his mission in May.
Lee and his wife, Renee Wilson, started dating when the woman was just 16 years old. Since the Golden Wedding Anniversary is a very special celebration for couples, the man decided to honor his wife in his own way.
"We're celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on August 10 and you know, what's a guy get his gal on their 50th?" said the Kansas farmer.
He shared how his wife liked sunflowers. The husband added that he believes that this year is the best time to plant sunflowers.
Renee was surprised by the golden blooms that his beloved partner planted.
"It couldn't have been a more perfect anniversary gift than a field of sunflowers," said Lee's wife.
However, Lee clarified that he is not planning to make sunflower planting a tradition.
The farmer said that one time is more than enough for them and that it is somebody's turn to do the same next year.
