Nacho Cheese Spill in Arkansas Closes Highway
The usually smooth asphalt of an Arkansas highway was transformed into a gooey, cheesy mess when a truckload of nacho cheese spilled. As per a report by The Hill, the "worst queso scenario" left a cheesy mess on the highway, forcing the Arkansas Department of Transportation to promptly close off the road.
The Arkansas Transportation Department posted photos of the cheesy mess on social media. One of the photos shows the close-up look of the nacho cheese spill, wherein seemingly hundreds of cans filled with gooey cheese leaked onto the highway.
The Transportation Department quipped in its caption, "Taco Tuesday, anyone?" The post further confirmed that a "truck carrying cans of nacho cheese spilled today on I-30 West near Prescott." Furthermore, the Facebook update assured that "things are all clear now and traffic is moving."
The incident sent shockwaves through folks online. Some of the comments were pretty hilarious, flooding with upbeat cheesy jokes. One user says the cheesy highway mess is "certainly not the best queso scenario." Another commenter wittingly says, "Nacho easiest clean up on that scene today."
The Arkansas Transportation Department also posted the cheesy spill on its Twitter account. A user responded, "Nacho average rush hour," while another user says "I-30 has never looked more delicious."
As the sun set on this cheesy ordeal, the Arkansas Transportation Department finally managed to reclaim the highway from the sticky nacho cheese. According to Fox News, the authorities re-opened the highway to vehicles by evening. The Hill notes that officials report that the traffic began moving as usual after clearing the gooey mess. Despite that crash and the cheesy accident, the incident reported no injuries.
Highway Food Spills
Interestingly, just a day before the massive nacho cheese spill, another similar incident occurred. Instead of cheese, the pounds of chocolate melted on a North California highway after its truck caught fire.
Local officials report that the truck, carrying roughly 40,000 pounds of choco lost control as its trailer separated. The hauling vehicle later burned. Given the accident, the chocolate melted on the side of the road amid the scorching heat of the sun.
Food and Wine report that in July last year, Tennessee saw an Alfredo sauce spill, while California grappled with a tomato spill. A month after that, Coors Light beer spilled all over Interstate 75, which caused heavy traffic in the area for a couple of hours.
