In a world where artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a staple in various industries, from finance to healthcare, one unexpected voice has emerged to warn us about its potential dangers. That voice belongs to none other than pop sensation Ed Sheeran.

According to Rolling Stone, the singer-songwriter, renowned for his soulful ballads, has expressed his concerns about AI. The chart-topping artist suggests that it could potentially "kill us all" in a manner reminiscent of dystopian movie plots. In his recent chat with Audacy Live, right before his private performance at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York, he shared his fears concerning the burgeoning tech.

The "Shape of You" singer blurts out that he would rather live in a world wherein AI never actually existed at all. So it turns out that Sheeran would not even bother asking away some questions to the viral OpenAI chatbot, ChatGPT.

In his recent sit-down interview, he says, "For the last 60 years, Hollywood movies have been telling you, '[Do not] do it.'" But despite the persistent warnings in these blockbuster films, it seems people in the real world played deaf. He adds, "[Everyone is] doing it."

The singer-songwriter further adds, "[I am] just like, 'Have you not seen the movies where they kill us all?'" Above his concerns, the phenomenal musician dubbed AI as "a bit weird."

Sheeran also questions the sole existence of AI. He stressed that technology could eventually take away people's jobs, which he believes is a "bad thing."

Music and AI

AI's role in music creation and distribution has expanded significantly nowadays. As per a report by Billboard, music makers recently dipped their toes in AI, creating artificial tunes like the "Fake Drake" track.

Another iconic musician, Dolly Parton, is siding with Sheeran when it comes to AI's popularity in the music world. As per Metro UK, the singer dismissed the revolutionary technology, adding that she has no interest in having her own AI-generated hologram.

While these technologies have the potential to improve our lives, they also pose several risks. Many tech experts have previously warned against the rapid development of AI these days. Billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk, signed a letter calling for the suspension of AI development, citing risks. Various tech execs, experts, and scientists also backed the call.
