‘I’m Not Dead!’: Lil Tay Says She’s Still Alive, Claims She Can’t Access Her Account

Internet rapper also clarified her legal name is ‘Tay Tian’

After the news of her reported death spread Wednesday (August 9), Lil Tay allegedly revealed she and her older brother, Jason Tian, are still alive and well. She further claimed her Instagram account has been compromised and was used to spread "jarring misinformation" about their suspected deaths.

In a statement to TMZ by Tay's family Thursday (August 10), they insisted she and Jason are "safe and alive, but...completely heartbroken" about the apparent fake news of her death.

"All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess," she said. "My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not 'Claire Hope'."

Tian added she contacted Meta, the mother company of Instagram, to regain control of her account and delete the fake death statement, which she announced was a success.

Sketchy Announcement

TMZ added in its report that police in the Vancouver area and Tian's family knew nothing about her apparent death.

It was further revealed Tian's parents, Angela Tian and Christopher Hope, were in the middle of a custody battle since 2018, around the same time she went silent online.

Meanwhile, AV Club reported some fans thought the circumstances of the death announcement were suspicious.
